A leading large financial services organisation are seeking an exceptional Head of Business Services Assurance and Insight to act as the strategic number 2 in the Business Services division. This high-profile position will position you at the heart of executive leadership, where you''ll own all aspects of change, control, governance, and analytics to complement the core delivery and operations functions within a streamlined management team of three pillars (Delivery, Operations, and Control).

The RoleReporting directly to the Head of Business Services, you''ll lead a dynamic team focused on four key sub-areas: Business Resilience Control, Business Continuity Control, Assurance, and the Delivery Project Office (PMO). Your remit will encompass full ownership of change initiatives, control frameworks, and all non-delivery/operations elements, including strategy execution, people development, governance, and advanced analytics across Business Services.
This senior leadership role demands a strategic mindset to align functions with organisational goals, risk appetite, and growth ambitions, while emphasising operational excellence, transparency through reporting and analytics, outcome-driven approaches, task centralisation/optimisation, and efficiency.
Responsibilities
Develop and execute an integrated strategy across Business Services functions, securing buy-in for system, process, strategy, and governance improvements.
Drive strong business outcomes in capital management, profitability, brand reputation, and stakeholder value for policyholders, shareholders, and partners.
Support strategic and regulatory developments to protect critical business services, including regular engagement with regulators and senior executives.
Act as a trusted strategic advisor and business partner to the Executive Team, COO Leadership Team, and Business Services Leadership Team.
Communicate vision, instil disciplines and mindsets, and embed new operating models across teams.
Oversee total cost of ownership modelling for deliverables, including third parties and change delivery.
Manage resource demand and tracking for Run the Business (RTB) and Change the Business (CTB) activities within the broader Change Delivery model.
Champion communications, tools, standards, governance, and best practices across Business Services.
Lead performance monitoring, risk assessments, and assurance tracking to ensure effective controls, metrics, and partnerships with 2nd and 3rd Line functions.
Requirements
Proven experience as a COO, Deputy COO, Chief of Staff, or similar senior role within the COO Leadership Team of a regulated large financial services organisation.
Demonstrated expertise in facing off to regulators, Executive Committees, and senior stakeholders, with a track record of chairing or membership in key committees (e.g., ExCo, OpCo, Management Risk Committee).
Deep knowledge of operational controls, processes, frameworks, metrics, KPIs, MI, and analytics.
Leadership in Target Operating Model design, efficiency processes, and performance management tools (e.g., scorecards, 2nd/3rd Line assessments).
Strong understanding of risk identification, assessment, and mitigation in operational and governance contexts.
Proficiency in finance, including budgeting, forecasting, ROI analysis, and cost control.
Extensive experience in large-scale program/project change management, stakeholder alignment, and communications strategies.
