Lecturer (Teaching): Academic Writing Development Adviser

About the role
This role is a fixed term for 12 months in the first instance0.2 FTE (7.3 hours per week)The postholder will be part of a dynamic interdisciplinary team committed to enhancing the student experience and fostering a positive, supportive learning environment that prepares students for professional success in engineering. They will sit within UCL Engineering’s Centre for Engineering Education and will work with colleagues across the faculty to support the continuous development and delivery of the Centre’s cross faculty curricula through the Integrated Engineering Programme (IEP) and Engineering Foundation Year (EFY).Furthermore, the postholder will be expected to provide inclusive and accessible support across core writing skills required in academic and reflective writing, critical reading and analysis, note taking, developing technical argument or writing impact statements.The postholder will work between both sites (Bloomsbury and Stratford).About you
The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate:Postgraduate Qualification (MSc/PhD) in a relevant field (e.g. English, Creative Writing, Applied Linguistics, Education, Science Communication, or a related discipline) and / or experience.Understanding of the specific challenges of academic and creative writing in STEM/engineering disciplines.Proven experience of implementing innovative student-centred teaching methodologies.Ability to design and adapt teaching to suit diverse learners, including international students and those with different levels of writing confidence.Experience working with students from diverse educational and cultural backgrounds.Please see the attached job description and person specification for full details.
