Residential Support Worker

Pay Rate: £13.00 Unqualified / £13.60 Qualified
Sleep-In Rate: £60 per sleep
Shift Pattern: 2 days off, 4 days on (rolling rota)
We are seeking compassionate, committed, and grounded individuals to support children and young people in a therapeutic residential setting. As a Residential Support Worker, you will play a central role in nurturing emotional growth, encouraging positive development, and supporting children to thrive in a stable, safe environment.

Your Role at a Glance
You'll be part of a close-knit, values-led team committed to holistic care. Your work will align with each young person's bespoke care plan, supporting their emotional, social, physical, and educational development.
Key Responsibilities Providing Meaningful Daily Care
- Deliver safe, nurturing, and attentive care, ensuring high standards at all times.
- Maintain a warm and homely environment: clean, tidy, and reflective of the children's personalities.
- Understand and follow care plans and risk assessments carefully and compassionately.
- Keep accurate records, contributing to reflective, child-centred practice.
Listening and Advocacy
- Foster an open, trusting space where children feel heard and respected.
- Build strong, genuine relationships rooted in empathy and unconditional positive regard.
- Support children to voice their wishes, participate in decisions, and develop their own sense of identity.
- Act as an advocate, both within the home and in multi-agency meetings.
Learning and Enrichment
- Encourage engagement with education, liaising with schools and escorting children to appointments if needed.
- Support daily routines around school attendance, personal presentation, and homework.
- Help children access enriching activities that support emotional, creative, and social development.
Health and Wellbeing
- Support healthy routines, balanced diets, and attendance at medical appointments.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date health records.
- Promote physical, emotional, and psychological wellbeing in all aspects of daily care.
Positive Relationships & Boundaries
- Maintain consistent, supportive boundaries and use positive behaviour approaches.
- Promote social learning and guide young people through difficult moments with empathy.
- Reflect on and update behaviour management strategies based on each child's evolving needs.
Keeping Children Safe
- Remain alert to safeguarding concerns and follow robust protocols to protect children.
- Ensure the home environment is physically safe and emotionally secure.
- Participate in health and safety checks, fire drills, and risk reviews.
Individualised Support & Care Planning
- Take part in developing and delivering individualised care plans that reflect each child's strengths and needs.
- Support independence and life skills through planned, age-appropriate work.
- Keep keywork sessions purposeful, supportive, and recorded in line with policies.
Teamwork & Leadership
- Be an active, reliable team member—communicating openly, sharing knowledge, and attending team meetings.
- Uphold all safeguarding, confidentiality, and data protection policies.
- Take part in supervision, training, and development with a learning mindset.
- Act professionally and ethically, promoting accountability and a safe workplace culture.
Who We're Looking For
You will need:
A passion for working with children and young people in a therapeutic setting.
The ability to remain calm, resilient, and solution-focused.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
A full, clean UK driving licence.
Flexibility to support across locations when required.
