We are currently recruiting for a competent

Conference and Events Manager

to join our Avenue Conference and Events team. The jobholder will lead the events team and will be responsible developing, coordinating and ensuring the timely and successful delivery of the events that will make an impact to the target audience. This role is required to deliver end to end event production management, and administration. Working as part of a small team.KEY OBJECTIVES

The Conference and Events Manager holds responsibility in the following main areas:Co-ordinate all aspects of the conference and events operations in terms of requirement, target audience and objectives.Responsible for managing and when necessary, hiring of events team membersWork closely with teams from across suppliers/events planner/caterer and external teams and to make suggestions to enhance event success.Prepare budgets, forecasts and ensure adherence.Design and lead marketing campaigns for events in keeping with social calendar.Provide leadership to all team members in excellent customer service to all clients.Ensure marketing material for conferencing and events are readily available and promoted.Source and negotiate with vendors and suppliersWhere additional staff are required, book in advance and provide job requirement.Keep accurate records of supplier agreements and details.Maintain a high level of service by constantly training and coaching all direct reports and associates.To instigate and monitor opening and closing procedures in order to establish and maintain the standards and condition of Avenue.Manage financial reporting ensuring all expenditure is kept within budget and provide accurate information, within agreed time frames, to contribute to budget monitoring and reporting.Responsible for the appropriate and timely set up for all functions and meetings while maintaining standards in terms of food, beverage and event specifications.Responsible for accurate communication between departments

to ensure seamless transition in following up from one function to another.Responsible for the development and maintenance of all policies, procedures and quality standards within the departments, utilizing a continuous improvement approach to ensure a high quality, cost effective and customer focused operation.PERSON SPECIFICATION

Proven experience of working as an event manager.Excellent communicatorTeam player with leadership skillsExcellent time management skills and ability to prioritise workload and work under pressure to meet deadlinesSubstantial experience of managing budgets and meeting financial targets via KPIs and marketing techniques for event management.Proficient organisational and administrative skills with a demonstrable customer focused approach.Excellent IT skills with knowledge of PowerPoint software, Excel and Microsoft 365.Excellent negotiating skills.Knack for problem solving.Must have exceptional food and beverage knowledge and pricing skills.DESIRABLE QUALITIES IN THE POST-HOLDER:BSc/BA in PR, marketing, hospitality managerment or field related is preferred.Must have excellent interpersonal skills, sales-related skills and organizational/supervisory qualities.Must have significant experience in operating Conference and Banqueting and good local knowledge of the surrounding areas.IN RETURN FOR YOUR COMMITMENT, WE WILL OFFER YOU:UniformMeals on dutyTeam discounts within IHG Hotels worldwideExcellent Training and Development opportunities within the Hotel groupCompany PensionBonus scheme in placeEmployee Assistance ProgrammeTeam events during the yearPaid Birthday day offService anniversary recognition.
