Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM

About the Role

We''re seeking a caring and proactive Reception Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child with Autism (ASD) who is non-verbal. You will play a key role in supporting their social, emotional, and academic development, using a range of strategies to encourage engagement and communication.

This role is ideal for someone who is patient, creative, and committed to making a difference in a child''s early education journey.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide individualised 1:1 support for a Reception pupil with ASD.
• Use visual timetables, PECS or Makaton (if experienced) to aid communication.
• Implement structured play and sensory activities to support learning.
• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver tailored strategies.
• Promote a nurturing, inclusive environment for all pupils.

What We''re Looking For

• Previous experience supporting children with SEN, particularly Autism (preferred).
• Knowledge of non-verbal communication strategies (PECS, Makaton desirable).
• A patient, empathetic, and positive approach.
• Ability to build strong relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
