Locum Consultant in Stroke Medicine at London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust. Substantive post in the Department of Stroke Medicine at London North West based at Northwick Park Hospital. An exciting opportunity to join our expanding stroke service and contribute to high-quality patient care and service improvement.Responsibilities

To provide in-patient and out-patient care for patients referred with suspected stroke or TIA.To contribute to the provision of a 24 hour acute stroke specialist service delivering thrombolysis and other specialist treatments (currently on call from home with CTs available by telemedicine and occasional out of hours visits to the hospital, including the thrombolysis rota).To contribute a full share to the consultant ward rounds every weekend day and public holiday (currently 1:7 weekends).To work with the clinical and managerial team to support and deliver quality improvements on the Stroke Unit and in the community.To provide clinical input into the early supported discharge service, specialist stroke community initiatives and stroke follow up.To take an active part in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training.To participate in clinical and other service activities such as medical and service audit to ensure a high standard of patient care.To contribute to the management of the clinical service and service development.To contribute to the development of clinical quality and effectiveness in other clinical areas overlapping with stroke developments.To advance the Unit’s research programme.About LNWH

This is a 10 PA post (7.5 DCC, 2.5 SPA) in the Comprehensive Stroke Service. A clinical leadership role may be possible for a suitable candidate with appropriate skills, support and training.The Stroke Unit was established during the London stroke reorganisation in 2009 and operates to strict audit and quality standards. We provide 24/7 thrombolysis and comprehensive rehabilitation with an early supported discharge team. Our strengths include multi-disciplinary working and a commitment to research, with recruitment to studies across all stages of stroke. The Unit has been consistently highly rated on the SSNAP audit and has won awards for clinical leadership and research.The appointee will be expected to contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and to be involved in departmental audit and research.Requirements

Applicants should have full GMC registration and experience, with evidence of specialist stroke training.Applications are welcomed from Doctors within 6 months of their CCT, or CESR in Stroke Medicine, and existing consultants looking to relocate.How to Apply / Contact
