Overview

Consultant in Emergency Medicine with Paediatric Emergency Medicine on either a Substantive or an NHS Fixed Term basis for 12 months to join their successful AandE department.Our client’s EDs operate at two main hospitals and provide dedicated facilities including rapid assessment and focused treatment areas, resuscitation rooms, Majors cubicles, Children’s Emergency units, Emergency Decision units and Same Day Emergency Care units. The services care for over 180,000 patients per year, including over 62,000 children, and are supported by on-site Urgent Treatment Centres to allow EDs to focus on emergencies. Both departments are Trauma Units and provide regional neurosurgical and stroke services. The Paediatric Emergency team has received the Pride in Excellence award (November 2015) and was recognised as an inspirational unit by Well Child in 2017.Responsibilities

Undertake direct clinical care of undifferentiated patients presenting to the Emergency Departments.Act as Team leader, coordinating the acute resuscitation of patients presenting to the resuscitation room with major trauma, cardiac arrest and major medical emergencies.Manage clinical areas of the department, overseeing the management of all patients in that area and supporting medical and nursing team members.Collaborate with the Nurse in charge to ensure proper running of the Emergency Department and maintain high standards of clinical care, patient safety and patient experience.Ensure patient care is delivered in line with National Key Performance Indicators for Emergency Care.Recruit junior medical staff and such other staff as appropriate for the department.Train nursing, ancillary and junior medical staff and contribute to quality improvement schemes, risk management and clinical audit.Additional Information
