OverviewWe are looking to recruit a youth support worker to join our vibrant, welcoming and busy Thrive team. This is a full-time role working with children and families presenting with a range of mental health challenges, and the post offers a breadth of opportunities for you to develop your skills in working with young people. There will be lots of opportunities to work individually and within groups and both independently and alongside other key professionals within the team. We offer a robust supervision structure and development opportunities in terms of psychological therapies training within the trust and opportunities to access specialist training in line with your own and the team’s needs.

Children’s mental health and emotional well-being is a key priority locally and Rochdale benefits from strong multi-agency networks and creative approaches to service delivery. Nationally recognised service, Thrive providing a broad spectrum of emotional well-being support to children and families. Other CAMHS-linked services in place include our Perinatal service, Your Trust and the Mental Health Support Team, with other projects also in development.

Responsibilities

Contribute to the community based assessment as well as provide Intervention to young people and their families

Support families to offer intervention and care under supervision of mental health practitioners or other Thrive colleagues

Developing ongoing relationships with children and families to promote recovery and resilience

Work intensively with children, young people and those who care for them under supervision of senior staff

To assist members of the multi-disciplinary team as required, in the delivery of interventions on an individual and group

Support, supervision and progressionNew team members are well-supported, with regular clinical and management supervision, access to peer supervision and CPD, and a pacing of caseloads and other duties in order to build confidence and experience, and to lay foundations relevant for your future aspirations. There are opportunities for career progression within the team and across the trust.

Location and scopeTo contribute to the assessments and interventions of young people requiring support for their mental health aged up to 19 years of age in the Heywood, Middleton, Rochdale and Pennines areas. To promote and safeguard the wellbeing of children and young people of the borough. To promote the health and wellbeing of young people in the borough. To provide a Thrive aligned support package and ensure safe transition in and out of service. To work with other professionals to ensure a holistic, needs led package of support which focusses on successes and goal-based outcomes.
