A Japanese company is seeking a Product Controller to join their West London office.The role is focused on shipping operations., purchasing, and inventory management.

Product Controller Main Responsibilities:• Act as the central point of contact for all product-related matters across the UK business• Manage product lifecycle from forecasting, order planning, and new product introductions to end-of-life management• Develop accurate product forecasts based on historical data, market trends, and sales input• Monitor and control inventory levels to achieve optimal stock availability while minimising excess and obsolescence• Liaise with their global headquarters to coordinate product orders and manage delivery schedules• Analyse sales and stock performance to recommend product adjustments or reorders• Support the sales team with product information, availability updates, and promotional planning• Maintain product master data in internal systems• Collaborate with the marketing team on product launches, promotions, and seasonal range planning• Provide regular reports and insights on product performance, trends, and risks to senior management
Product Controller Ideal Candidate:Essential:• Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in product management, inventory control, or supply chain planning• Strong analytical and numerical skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail• Excellent Excel skills and confidence working with large data sets (eg, pivot tables, v-lookups)• Commercial awareness and understanding of stock-turn, margin, and product lifecycle metrics• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and work cross-functionally• Effective communication and collaboration skills, both written and verbal• Highly organised and proactive in problem-solving
Desirable:• Experience working in a consumer goods, sports, or apparel business• Familiarity with ERP or stock management systems (eg, SAP, Oracle, or similar)• Knowledge of the UK sporting goods retail landscape• Ability to interpret market trends and translate them into actionable inventory strategies
