Are you an engaging, empathetic individual with a passion for supporting young people? We are looking for a Mentor to work with a young person currently transitioning into Year 10, who is seeking a positive and nurturing adult relationship to help build confidence and explore their interests.



About the Young Person:

  • Transitioning into Year 10
  • Has an EHCP in place
  • Fantastic sense of humour and loves jokes
  • Enjoys cooking, skateboarding, and DJing
  • Looking to build confidence and engage in meaningful, enjoyable activities
  • Available for mentoring 4 days a week, with flexible timing (mornings or afternoons)


As a Mentor, you will:

    • Provide 1:1 mentoring support for 10 hours per week (with potential to increase to 15 hours)
    • Build a trusting, consistent relationship with the young person
    • Plan and participate in interest-led activities such as cooking sessions, skateboarding outings, or music-related experiences
    • Support the young person''s social and emotional development
    • Drive the young person to and from activities as needed

About you:

    • Experience working with young people, especially those with ADHD, ASD, or additional needs
    • A calm, patient, and creative approach
    • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
    • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
    • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)

Contract or position start date - ASAP
Contract or position end date (if applicable) - N/A
Full time/part-time - Dependent on candidate availability.
Hours - 10 overall- Morningsor afternoons across 4 days (can increase to 15)
Essential & Desirable Qualifications:

      • A background in youth work/ support work is highly desirable
      • Minimum of 1 year of experience working within UK schools
      • Experience working with learners with SEN needs is highly desirable.
      • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
      • Enthusiasm, compassion and positivity are essential, along with a calm nature

To be eligible for this role through Prospero teaching, you must:

  • Hold right to work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
  • Provide references upon request
  • Possess up to date Safeguarding Training (or a willingness to undertake this)
