Speech and Language Therapist

You will collaborate with the education team to deliver bespoke Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention to pupils who may have experienced developmental trauma, be neurodivergent, or have SEMH needs. You will work within the standards provided in the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working, and hold a Speech and Language therapy caseload with the support of your designated clinical supervisor and site lead. You will also contribute to staff training and consultation as required. Location and OrganisationWillow Park School forms part of the Acorn Education brand and is an independent specialist day school for children and young people aged 9-16. Location: Buckinghamshire.
Responsibilities
Deliver bespoke Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention in an education setting.
Hold a Speech and Language Therapy caseload with support from a clinical supervisor and site lead.
Collaborate with the education team and contribute to staff training and consultation.
Engage with multidisciplinary teams and maintain a person-centred approach focused on pupil independence and wellbeing.
Participate in the growth of apprentices, students, and therapy assistants and engage in professional development activities.
Qualifications and Experience
Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy; HCPC registered.
1-2 years of experience as a registered SLT in a similar setting.
Experience with individuals presenting complex and diverse communication profiles; knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma-informed practice.
Experience in multidisciplinary working and communicating with families/caregivers.
Knowledge of SLT assessment tools, intervention types, and ability to formulate support plans; understanding of relevant legislation for clinical practice and professional management.
Strong relationship-building, communication, time management, and organisational skills.
Willingness to attend training and pursue relevant further qualifications for the client group.
Desirable
Understanding of sensory and motor differences affecting communication.
Experience relating arousal levels to communication.
Full driving license and access to a car (highly desirable).
Contract and BenefitsContract: Permanent (term-time only, or flexibility around a full-time contract can be discussed based on personal circumstances).
Salary: Up to £53,200 pro rata (dependent on experience). Categories: basic grade SALT from £33,000+, Specialist from £39,500+, Highly specialist from £48,000+.
Hours: 22.5 hours per week, typically 3 days per week, 08:00–16:00.
