A long-standing, reputable accountancy practice based in Huddersfield is seeking a capable and confident Semi-Senior Accountant to join its growing team. With around 500 clients across various sectors, the firm offers a stable and collaborative working environment with opportunities to handle a diverse client portfolio and contribute to ongoing growth. The team consists of 22 professionals across accounts, tax, VAT, payroll, and bookkeeping, supported by qualified managers and trainees.

This role is perfect for someone looking to stay at the semi-senior level long-term without pursuing further study, and who enjoys a hands-on, client-facing position.

Candidates will be responsible for preparing year-end accounts, tax computations, and supporting clients with their accounting software and queries. You''ll also supervise junior colleagues, liaise with HMRC, and have regular client contact, including occasional visits.

• Prepare statutory year-end accounts and tax computations
• Conduct client meetings to discuss year-end accounts
• Support clients with Sage and Xero queries
• Prepare VAT returns and management accounts when required
• Supervise junior and trainee accountants
• Liaise with HMRC regarding client matters
• Attend client sites as needed
• Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas
• Support business development through excellent client service

• At least 2 years'' experience in a UK accountancy practice
• AAT qualified or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of Sage 50 and Xero. Ideally IRIS as well.
• Good understanding of VAT and corporation tax
• Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
• Familiarity with QuickBooks or FreeAgent

• Salary: -30,000 - -35,000 depending on experience (Pro Rata available for part-time)
• Working Hours: 8am- 4pm or 9am- 5pm (30 minutes lunch- 37.5 hours a week)
