Are you passionate about food, nutrition, and making a positive difference in students lives? We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Chef Manager to lead the catering provision at our large and vibrant school site in Guildford.As the Chef Manager, youll be responsible for the daily operation of the kitchen as the sole chef on site, preparing fresh, high-quality meals for our Sixth Form Centre and two on-site restaurants. With around 2,000 children on site, you''ll play a vital role in delivering a great dining experience that supports student wellbeing and learning.This role is offered on a 42-week contract (term time plus some holiday working), giving you a better work-life balance than standard catering roles.Key Responsibilities

Plan and prepare nutritious, balanced meals in line with school food standards

Operate the kitchen as the sole chef, delivering high-quality, appealing menus across the Sixth Form Centre and two on-site restaurants

Maintain excellent standards of cleanliness, food safety, and hygiene at all times

Manage stock levels, orders, and budgets efficiently and cost-effectively

Liaise with school leadership on dietary needs, menu updates, and special events

Ensure allergen information is accurately recorded and communicated

Foster a positive, welcoming atmosphere for students and staff alike

About You

We are looking for someone who:Has experience working in a busy catering environment, ideally in a school or similar high-volume setting

Is confident working independently as the sole chef, demonstrating excellent time management and organisational skills

Has a strong understanding of nutrition and its importance in young peoples development

Is proactive, reliable, and committed to delivering great food and customer service

Has up-to-date knowledge of food hygiene and health and safety requirements
