Overview
Our client is a global trading organisation and they are seeking a finance/compliance professional to support compliance with legally mandated biofuel obligations in the UK and Ireland. The team administers certificate awards, which can be traded between obligated companies to reflect the quantity and type of biofuel added to road fuel, and these certificates are used to discharge the company’s annual obligation. The certificate processes are administered by government agencies and include complex rules, fixed deadlines and penalties. This role is primarily compliance focused and based in London.Job Details

Calculate the monthly biofuel obligation in UK and IrelandTrack the physical fossil and biofuel content of all product movements throughout the supply chain using oil accounting systemsValidate and reconcile obligated sales. Balancing UK and Irish official duty returnCalculate supply partner biofuel balances and agree these with counterpartiesIdentify any discrepancy in data and promptly work with internal or external party to resolve differencesCertificate claim process and Certificate BalanceWork closely with suppliers and internal operations groups to obtain required documentationMaintain and follow procedures required to support trading of physical biofuel, including the issuing of Carbon and Sustainability dataReview all documentation to ensure compliance with national and ISCC regulations, including country of origin, greenhouse gas saving (GHG - checked using on-line Carbon Calculator), voluntary scheme usedMaintain a robust mass balance for Refinery biodiesel and storage location specific ethanol, tracking all product stock movements, using the Valero oil accounting system and other systemsEnter claims in external web-based Government systems working with appointed Valero verifier to obtain their sign-off prior to submissionCoordinate certificate transfers, purchases and sales directly with supply counterpartiesCritical Deadlines:
Monthly – Volume submission to create obligationQuarterly – Application for certificate awardAnnual – GHG reporting, redemption, final award request
Additional Duties
Liaise with UK and Ireland Biofuel Agencies and the Verifier to obtain approval for the addition of new biofuel types and sourcesRepresent the company at industry and government biofuel forums and on the UKPIAReview all biofuel trade documentation to ensure that the contracts contain necessary clauses to protect the company\''s ability to make certificate claims in both UK and IrelandCompetencies / Skills / Education
