Overview

Consultant in Children and Young People’s Diabetes and Endocrinology at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH). This is a consultant-level clinical role within the CYP Diabetes Service, which is one of the largest in the UK and uses the latest diabetes technologies including hybrid closed loop insulin delivery systems.Responsibilities

Provide high-quality, consultant-led care for a paediatric and adolescent diabetes patient cohort, with the same consultant seeing each family at quarterly MDT reviews.Demonstrate leadership and a commitment to clinical governance and delivering top-quality patient care.Participate in teaching and educational supervision of trainees, develop postgraduate teaching and supervision skills, and participate in annual appraisals.Provide professional and clinical supervision of endocrine junior doctors and assist in managing their workloads.Liaise with the Education and Training lead for Paediatric Endocrinology colleagues at Great Ormond Street Hospital to support a comprehensive teaching programme aligned with the RCPCH Training Curriculum for Paediatric Endocrinology across two sites.Develop or expand a sub-speciality interest in endocrinology that complements current team interests (e.g., mental health and eating disorders, safeguarding, neurodevelopment, research, adolescent medicine).Contribute to the endocrine component of NHS England specialist services for Children and Young People with Gender Incongruence (formerly GIDS).Support on-call responsibilities for diabetes may be possible in the future.Engage in multidisciplinary collaboration within the team and with external services, including endocrine liaison clinics for NHS England specialist services.Requirements and qualifications

Evidence of, or readiness to develop, a sub-speciality interest in paediatric endocrinology that complements departmental interests.Ability to meet UCLH Trust values and work collaboratively with colleagues while providing patient-centered care.Leadership capabilities and a track record of involvement in governance, teaching, supervision, and appraisal processes.Willingness to participate in teaching activities across the UCLH site and contribute to education and training as part of the CYP endocrinology team.Eligibility to practice as a consultant in the UK (potential on-call availability in the future).About the organization
