The Role: Tooling Design Engineer

Are you an experienced Tooling Design Engineer looking for your next challenge? This exciting role will see you working on a variety of tooling projects, providing essential technical support to the Tool Room, and managing modification quotes. As a Tooling Design Engineer, you’ll play a key part in ensuring robust, effective tool designs and driving innovation across manufacturing processes.

Based in Sawtry, this is a full-time, permanent opportunity to join a forward-thinking engineering business that values quality, technical expertise, and innovation. As a Tooling Design Engineer, you will collaborate with international toolmakers, work closely with cross-functional teams, and contribute to the development of world-class tooling solutions in a supportive and professional environment.

• Ensure all duties are performed safely and in line with Health & Safety legislation.

• Provide technical support to the Tool Room regarding tooling queries.

• Develop general assemblies (GAs) from overseas sources to meet company standards.

• Collaborate with international toolmakers to ensure robust tool designs.

• Prepare and modify customer 3D models for tooling purposes.

• Support customer meetings and conference calls to develop product and tool files.

• Attend internal and external meetings relating to current and future work.

• Participate in tool trials both domestically and overseas when required.

• Advise internal and external Design Departments on optimum tooling requirements.

• Perform mold flow analyses on new and existing components to improve processes.

• Provide quotations for modifications based on customer files.

• Manage external tooling work and ensure all relevant information is communicated.

• Proven experience in tooling design and development.

• Strong knowledge of CAD software and 3D modelling.

• Excellent technical and problem-solving skills.

• Experience liaising with international teams and suppliers.

• Strong communication and organisational skills.

• Understanding of mold flow analysis and tooling processes.

• Permanent, full-time position.

• Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm, with a 1-hour lunch break.
