Consultant in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry (£30K RRP)

OverviewWe are seeking an energetic, innovative, and committed psychiatrist with a strong interest in child and adolescent mental health. Responsibilities
Provide a service to children and young people with established or suspected psychiatric illnesses for diagnosis, treatment planning and follow-up, mainly for out-patients and occasional specialist consultation for inpatients.
Offer a service to children and young people with primary diagnoses of learning disabilities and mental health problems for diagnosis, management and continuing care.
Provide clinical support for children with neurodevelopmental conditions and, where needed, input for additional psychopathology.
Contribute to multidisciplinary assessment and management of behavioural impairment in the context of learning disabilities and/or neurodevelopmental disorders.
Provide consultation and advice for complex clinical presentations requiring multidisciplinary input.
Maintain a full and varied caseload requiring varying degrees of input from consultant psychiatrists.
Develop a special clinical interest with the agreement of the Clinical Director.
Contribute to the development of the child and adolescent psychiatry team, with a focus on clinical leadership.
Undertake administrative duties associated with patient care.
Participate in out-of-hours on-call cover with a 1:6 rota, and provide consultations and on-call support to other clinicians during working hours.
Demonstrate excellent communication skills and act as a role model to other team members.
Provide senior medical leadership and work with the management team to improve outcomes and experiences for young people while delivering high-quality, safe care.
Leadership, Governance and Supervision
Undertake line management responsibilities and clinical supervision of up to two Specialty Doctors.
Be involved in quality governance, including critical incident reviews and management of complaints.
Additional Information
To undertake the administrative duties associated with patient care.

To develop and participate in teaching, research and service improvement initiatives as appropriate.
To work as part of Milton Keynes Specialist CAMHS within CNWL, contributing to the wider Trust and opportunities to collaborate with London CAMHS teams (up to one day per week, if desired).
Be on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of obtaining the CCT and Approved Clinician Status.
Location and OrganisationMilton Keynes Specialist Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) covers the Milton Keynes area with referrals entering via a single point of access. The service handles a range of mental health presentations and supports children with learning disabilities who have mental health needs. The team is adopting the I-Thrive model and offers diverse learning and development opportunities within a large, diverse London-based Trust (CNWL NHS Foundation Trust).
