Children’s Residential Support Worker (Days & Nights)
Physical & Learning Disabilities Home | Full-Time | £12.75 per hour
We are currently recruiting dedicated, compassionate Children’s Residential Support Workers to join a specialist residential home supporting young people aged 7–15.
This home provides a safe and nurturing environment for children with physical disabilities, learning disabilities, and complex additional needs. The role focuses on delivering consistent, high-quality, person-centred care, supporting young people both throughout the day and overnight.
These are hands-on roles requiring patience, empathy and a proactive, nurturing approach.
About the Role
Day Shifts 07:00am – 10:00pm:
- 3–4 shifts per week
- Supporting daily routines, activities and life skills
Night Shifts 10:00pm – 8:00am:
- 4 shifts per week
- Majority of nights are settled, with young people typically sleeping
Full-time positions available, supporting young people in a residential care setting
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting children with personal care, including: Toileting and continence care (including pad/nappy changing), bathing/showering assistanc, dressing and undressing, oral and general hygiene support
- Assisting with feeding where required
- Administering medication in line with training and protocols
- Supporting mobility and moving/handling needs
- Ensuring the safety, dignity and wellbeing of all young people
- Completing accurate records and handovers
Day Shift Duties:
- Supporting morning and bedtime routines
- Planning and facilitating engaging activities
- Encouraging independence and daily life skills
- Maintaining a structured and positive daytime environment
Night Shift Duties:
- Providing attentive overnight care
- Maintaining a calm, safe, and structured environment
- Responding to any needs during the night
Requirements
- Minimum age: 22 years old
- At least 6 months’ experience in residential care
- Experience supporting children with physical or learning disabilities (desirable)
- Full UK manual driving licence (essential)
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Ability to work independently and remain calm in a care setting
