Sous Chef

We are recruiting on behalf of a centrally located hotel in the heart of Whitby, home to a newly refurbished Restaurant and Bar overlooking the iconic Whitby Abbey.
The kitchen team, comprising
12 chefs and kitchen porters , delivers high-quality, freshly prepared food in a supportive, fast-paced environment. The menu features a mix of
pub classics, seafood specials, grilled dishes, burgers, pizzas , and more — all made fresh with a strong focus on quality and consistency.What''s on Offer

Key Responsibilities
Support the Head Chef and Sous Chef in day-to-day kitchen operations
Lead and motivate the team during service
Ensure consistent quality and presentation across all dishes
Assist with stock control, ordering, and kitchen hygiene
Uphold food safety and health and safety standards
Train, mentor, and support junior staff and kitchen porters
What We''re Looking For
Experience as a Junior Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie
Passion for cooking and high-quality food
Strong organisational and communication skills
A hands-on, positive approach with team leadership experience
Ability to thrive under pressure in a busy kitchen environment
