The post holder will provide a clinical service to patients attending a combination of face to face, video, and telephone outpatient clinics, to include Gestational Diabetes, Type I and Type II Diabetes. DAFNE experience and accreditation would be desirable. There is the opportunity to undertake quality improvement and service development working alongside our other Band 7 Diabetes Dietitian. You should have leadership skills, the ability to work well within teams and be able to manage your time effectively.Overview

The post holder will provide a dietetic service to patients requiring specialist diabetes advice within diabetes services in outpatient clinics and group sessions. They will provide ongoing support to patients through assessments, by telephone, virtual mediums and written communication, and work as a contributing member of the diabetes multi-disciplinary team. The role ensures clinical service delivery is research-based and conforms to best practice guidelines, and involves planning, developing, delivering and evaluating teaching sessions for nursing, medical and other healthcare professionals.Responsibilities

Provide a dietetic service to patients requiring specialist diabetes advice within diabetes services in outpatient clinics and group sessions.Provide ongoing support to patients through assessments, by telephone, virtual mediums and written communication.Work as a contributing member of the diabetes multi-disciplinary team and attend meetings and training where appropriate.Ensure clinical service delivery is research-based and conforms to best practice guidelines.Plan, develop, deliver and evaluate teaching sessions for nursing, medical and other healthcare professionals.Ensure work is in line with Departmental, Trust and National Dietetic standards.Provide formal and informal training and education sessions to specialist and non-specialist staff at all levels within and external to the Trust.Be involved in quality improvement and service development alongside other team members.Qualifications and Experience

Experience as a Dietitian with focus on diabetes care.DAFNE experience and accreditation desirable.Leadership skills and ability to work effectively within teams and manage time.Effective communication and negotiation skills.Commitment to professional development and student training initiatives.Additional Information
