Electrical Installation Engineer / Technician – Rail Systems (London)

At Firstco, we consult, design, build and support a range of control and communication systems within transport and other critical national infrastructure industries.Due to growing project demand, we are now looking for an experienced Electrical Installation Engineer / Technician to join our expanding rail systems team.This role will primarily be site-based at our Heathrow site, but you may be required to work in other locations around the Greater London area from time to time.Rail Electrical Installation Engineers at Firstco undertake electrical works across live rail station environments including stations, tunnels, and associated assets.You will be involved in the installation, modification and maintenance of Station Security and Information Systems (SIS), including but not limited to:PLC Control PanelsCCTVPublic Address and Voice Alarm (PAVA)Customer Information Systems (CIS)Electrical distribution and control panelsStation power and communications infrastructureDue to the nature of railway projects, some works will be required during night shifts to meet operational and safety constraints.Specific roles and responsibilities are commensurate with experience and qualifications.Qualifications, Experience and Education Requirements – Including but not limited to:Time-served electrical engineer or technician with relevant NVQ/SVQ, City and Guilds or equivalent qualificationsQualified to the latest edition of the IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671 – 18th Edition or later)Demonstrable experience of electrical installation and maintenance in UK rail environmentsPTS (Personal Track Safety) and awareness of Rail standardsAble to demonstrate practical installation and fault-finding skillsPermitted to work and live in the UK without sponsorshipQualified to obtain necessary passes to work air-side, track-side, in sub-surface rail locations, and in secure environments (licenses and training will be provided, but the applicant must meet eligibility criteria)UK driving licenceKey Responsibilities – Including but not limited to:You can expect exposure to the following:Undertake planned and reactive maintenance across a range of rail control and communication systemsCarry out electrical installation, system modifications, and panel upgrades for projectsProject support across installation, integration and testing/commissioningContribute to the safety and compliance of all works to industry standardsNight and weekend work as and when requiredNon-Rail / Airport Work:All Firstco staff are occasionally required to work on non-rail projects and undertake additional duties as reasonably requested.
