Operating in over 20 countries, this time served data business provides pricing and specification insights to a significant segment of the global manufacturing sector. The business is very much lead from the UK with its own corporate functions but structurally part of a larger multi national conglomerate.
Part of a tax team of three, you will be deputy to Director of Tax and Treasury. The Group Tax Reporting and Compliance Manager is a key central role to the Group and sits within the Corporate Finance department along with the Director of Tax and Treasury and Tax Manager.
In this role you will be involved in all aspects of tax accounting and compliance across the countries in which the group operates. You will be the interface between the finance reporting and accounting leads responsible for tax and accounting in each country and the UK group finance team for tax accounting and compliance matters. You will also have a key role in liaising with the Tax Director of the parent group on wider compliance and reporting matters.
ResponsibilitiesMAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Tax accounting and compliance
Responsible for managing the year end tax process across the group. This primarily includes responsibility for preparing the group tax consolidation and corresponding tax disclosures for the UK group accounts, reviewing year end tax submissions across the group and working with the auditors as required.
Responsible for performing a high-level review of tax disclosures in financial statements and for corporate tax submissions across the group by working closely with finance leads.
Manage the UK corporation tax compliance process including quarterly instalment payments, review the quarterly UK VAT returns, manage any HMRC or other tax authority audit as appropriate. Support as necessary with information required by parent company for the US tax compliance process.
Tax budgeting and cash tax forecastingResponsible for preparing the group tax model as part of the budgeting and reforecasting process. They will also be responsible for group tax payment forecasting, including the preparation of annual and quarterly reforecasting and reviewing submissions by finance leads on a monthly basis to understand variances.
Tax governanceSupport the group with operating its tax governance framework based around compliance with the Criminal Finances Act (e.g. updating the risk assessment, reviewing the policy, and overseeing controls testing).
Ad hoc tax compliance and advisoryThere will be the opportunity to get involved across all taxes. This work could include:
Withholding tax compliance;
Providing withholding tax advice;
Responding to global mobility queries;
Assisting with VAT reviews and related questions;
Reviewing off-payroll working assessments;
Supporting with transfer pricing (e.g. true ups, recharges, Local Files);
Support with Pillar 2 or CBCR requirements; and
Other ad-hoc queries as they arise.
About you
ACA/CTA qualified or equivalent
UK corporate tax trained in a Big 4 or top 10 firm
Previous experience in-house including support with year-end processes
Minimum of six years total experience
Strong understanding of tax accounting concepts; UK GAAP, IFRS, US GAAP.
Some knowledge of VAT compliance required
