We are looking for a
Junior Programme Manager
to support our
Data Centres
and
Smart Energy and Utilities
programmes, key areas at the heart of the UK’s net zero and digital infrastructure ambitions.
Role Overview
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for clean technology, digital infrastructure, and public policy. As Junior Programme Manager, you will help deliver the work of techUK’s
Data Centres Energy Working Group
and
Smart Energy and Utilities Group . These communities play a central role in shaping how the UK meets its net zero goals while building secure, sustainable, and future-ready digital services.
You will work closely with leading companies in the energy, technology, and digital infrastructure (Data Centres) sectors to convene stakeholders, develop thought leadership, and support policy engagement.Key Responsibilities
Support the delivery of our Data Centres and Smart Energy programme activities, including working groups, roundtables, and consultations
Support policy development on grid connection reform, strategic spatial energy planning, energy pricing mechanisms, market arrangement, flexibility, and clean energy transitionSupport development of a comprehensive infrastructure policy in energy and water sectorsSupport in heat policy development.
Assist in managing relationships with government departments, regulators, and key stakeholders on energy policy, infrastructure resilience, and decarbonisationTrack and summarise policy and regulatory developments across areas such as energy efficiency, grid access, renewables, and corporate sustainability reportingHelp develop content such as policy briefings, blogs, member updates, and insight reportsSupport event delivery, including speaker coordination, logistics, and promotionWork with members to gather feedback for consultation responses, promote their innovations, and drive engagement with techUK initiativesProvide ad hoc support to Heads of Data Centres and Head of Infrastructure in membershipOpportunities to write articles, insights and analytical pieces on techUK website and externallyCross programme support on related topics such as AI policy and regulation, AI Growth Zones and AI Energy Council engagement
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Essential Knowledge and Experience
Strong interest in energy policy, climate tech, and digital infrastructureAbility and drive to quickly build practical subject matter expertiseExcellent written and verbal communication skills with attention to detailStrong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasksA proactive, can-do attitude and ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholdersInterest in current affairs, public policy, or technology trendsInterest in convening and event managementDesired knowledge and experience
Prior knowledge of data centres, energy infrastructure, and energy market policyUnderstands the economic, social and political environment, members'' businesses, stakeholders and their driversExperience working on or supporting events, briefings, or public policy initiativesFamiliarity with the UK’s net zero agenda or energy market landscapeInterest in emerging technology markets such as AIWhy join techUK?

This is a full time role based out of techUK’s London offices, however techUK operates a flexible working policy.

The successful candidate must have permission to work in the UK prior to the commencement of employment.
The salary range for this role is £28,000-£33,000 per annum based upon experience plus discretionary bonus and comprehensive benefits.
