Special Needs Assistant
Primary SEN School, Waterlooville
Temp to Perm Contract

Academics are seeking an experienced and empathetic Special Needs Assistant to join a lovely Primary SEN School in the Waterlooville area of Hampshire to start ASAP. This is a full-time, term-time,temp to perm contract.

The successful Special Needs Assistant must have experience of working with primary aged children with special educational needs including autism, challenging behaviour and communication difficulties.

Suitable Special Needs Assistant''s will:

• Have recent experience of supporting in a school setting, ideally within an SEN school
• Have a childcare/education related qualification e.g. CACHE3/NVQ3 in Childcare or care
• Have experience of working with children with SEN/challenging behaviour
• Be able to show good behaviour management skills, whilst remaining calm.
• Be available full-time
• Ideally be based in the local area or happy to travel to Waterlooville for work.
• Be friendly and open to new challenges.
• Qualifications such as Makaton, PECS, TeamTeach would be an advantage

The school caters for early years and primary aged children with complex learning difficulties so you must be willing to carry out personal care and feeding duties and be happy to get stuck in. This is a hands on role involving floor play so must be mobile and be a team player.
