Senior Design Engineer
Our client is a pioneering British force in global Smart City infrastructure and Zero Carbon mobility. They don''t just build hardware; they design the technical backbone of modern cities - from E-Mobility hubs to high-tech digital signage used by millions every day. With over 150,000 global installations, they are scaling rapidly to meet the demand for their award-winning products and need a high-calibre Senior Design Engineer to turn complex mobility concepts into fabrication-ready reality. This is your chance to join a small, elite team and lead the end-to-end development of products that define the future of urban travel.
The Role:
From Concept to Concrete In this role, you will lead the design and development of complex architectural metalwork, mobility infrastructure, and advanced wayfinding solutions. You will be responsible for solving intricate engineering challenges and creating full technical packages, which include manufacturing, assembly, and installation drawings. Beyond the drawing board, you will own the creation of accurate Bill of Materials (BOMs) by collaborating closely with electronic and electrical engineering teams.
Your influence extends across the entire lifecycle of the product. You will act as a bridge to internal production, ensuring every design is optimised for the shop floor and remains transportable and maintainable. As a senior figure, you will be expected to manage these projects within strict timelines and budgets while maintaining unyielding standards of quality and safety. Furthermore, you will play a key part in the evolution of the department by assisting in the continuous improvement of design and quality systems.
Your Profile
We are looking for a fabrication expert with a deep background in architectural metalwork and fabrication designs. To succeed, you must possess a high level of expertise in Autodesk Inventor, Advance Steel, or SolidWorks. You should have a proven track record in a Senior or Lead role within a fast-paced manufacturing or technology environment, showing you can handle the responsibility of delivering on promises under tight deadlines.
Leadership and communication are just as vital as your technical wizardry. You are an optimistic team player who can persuade and influence at a senior level, maintaining a "can-do" attitude even when facing complex obstacles. You should have an "unyielding attention to detail" and ideally hold a degree or HNC in Mechanical Engineering. Experience with CSCS cards or CDM training is also highly regarded as you navigate the intersection of design and physical installation.
The Rewards
In exchange for your expertise, our client offers a competitive salary of £45,000 – £55,000 per annum. The working pattern is a stable 8-hour day, Monday to Friday, providing a healthy work-life balance within a highly skilled and inspiring team.
The benefits package is designed to support your lifestyle and the environment, featuring a Company Green Car scheme, a Cycle to Work scheme, and a comprehensive pension. Most importantly, you will gain the unique satisfaction of seeing your 3D models become physical landmarks in the world’s leading cities.
