Chair of Trustees, The Access to Justice Foundation Voluntary role Access to Justice Foundation (ATJF) underpins a fair and functioning society. Yet across the UK, millions of people face barriers to legal advice and representation, particularly those living in poverty, disabled people and communities in so-called "advice deserts". ATJF is the only UK-wide funder dedicated to increasing the availability of free legal support, advice and representation. In 2024, the Foundation distributed over £14 million in grants to 140 organisations, supporting people facing issues in housing, debt, employment and immigration. Now, as ATJF explores new and potentially transformative funding models, we are seeking an exceptional individual to serve as our next Chair of Trustees. This is an opportunity to lead a committed and capable Board at a pivotal moment. The Chair will provide strategic leadership and strong governance as the Foundation prepares for potential growth in funding scale and increased engagement with government and the legal sector. You will act as an ambassador for ATJF, strengthening relationships across senior stakeholders and helping to ensure the organisation''s long-term sustainability and influence. ATJF are therefore seeking a highly respected senior legal professional, practising or retired, with board-level experience and the confidence to chair effectively.
