Job Title: Learning Support Assistant

A welcoming SEND school in South Tyneside are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant.

The school supports pupils aged 2 to 19, catering to a broad range of additional needs, including severe learning difficulties and complex requirements. With a strong, nurturing ethos at its core, the setting provides a safe and inclusive environment where every child is valued.

Staff at the school are highly committed and work collaboratively to ensure each pupil is supported, encouraged, and given every opportunity to achieve their full potential.

The normal working pattern is Monday–Friday 8:30–16:30.

The successful candidate will: 

• Have a fully enhanced DBS on the update service or a willingness to obtain one
• Have experience working with SEND or vulnerable groups
• Assist pupils in lessons and activities
• Be flexible and resilient, meeting the diverse needs of students
• Work effectively with parents, carers, and other members of multidisciplinary teams to provide the best support
• Be confident in working alongside students, ensuring they are fully supported within their learning and general classroom activities
• Possess communication skills that can be personalised to suit students of different abilities
