Principal Structural Engineers
to lead projects, manage inspections, and deliver high-quality structural reports and drawings.Role Overview
The
Principal Structural Engineer
will be responsible for managing incoming enquiries, carrying out site inspections, producing technical designs, calculations, and reports, as well as supporting business development.Key Responsibilities
Conduct site inspections, surveys, design, calculations, drawings, and reportsLead project design and specifications requiring advanced expertiseReview and approve reports, drawings, and specifications before client submissionReport directly to the Board of DirectorsAssess new enquiries, prepare quotes and invoices, and update CRM systemsParticipate in regular board conference calls on business performance and strategyContribute to the online project diary to share commitments with the teamMaintain timesheets linked to job reference numbers for PandL trackingRequired Qualifications And Skills
Chartered Engineer status (CEng or equivalent)Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent)Strong knowledge of UK Building Regulations and design standardsExcellent written and spoken English, with the ability to produce clear reports and drawingsProficiency in Microsoft Word, including formatting and layoutsAccess to a car with a valid UK driving licenceDesired Experience
Team or staff management experienceProficiency with structural design software and CAD toolsLitigation or expert witness experience (training available)Business development or client-facing experiencePersonal Attributes
Strong problem-solving skills with practical, client-focused judgementConfidence to make and defend professional recommendationsExceptional attention to detail in both technical and written workCollaborative, can-do attitude with strong communication skillsAbility to present solutions alongside identified challengesApplication Process
