Electrician, HMP Leyhill, full time, temporary Your new companyHMP Leyhill is an open (Category D) prison in Gloucestershire, focused on preparing men for release through resettlement, skills development, and structured work opportunities.Your new roleAs an Electrician, you will carry out installations, testing and commissioning of electrical systems in line with statutory regulations and industry best practice. You will complete planned maintenance, respond to CAFM-generated service requests, and ensure tasks are prioritised effectively. Key responsibilities include:Supervising prisoners during work and training activities.Completing maintenance and inspection tasks, including in confined spaces and at height.Managing stock levels and requesting materials as required.Escorting and supervising contractors under the Local Security Strategy (LSS).Maintaining regular radio communication in line with LSS.Accepting appointments as a competent/authorised person under GFSL safe systems of work.Driving estates vehicles and operating plant equipment (where qualified).Completing locking duties when required.Undertaking urgent/emergency tasks within agreed timescales.Supporting tool inventory control and maintaining security standards.Promoting excellent customer service and maintaining strong client relationships.Ensuring compliance with all Health and Safety legislation, including acting as Fire Warden or First Aider if required.
