Director of Data Architecture - Birmingham (Travel to London required)Our client is a global leader in technology and consulting, delivering cutting-edge solutions across cloud, infrastructure, applications, and business processes. With a strong emphasis on innovation and collaboration, they empower teams to solve complex challenges and drive transformation at scale.As Director of Data Architecture, you’ll shape enterprise-wide data strategies, lead high-impact client engagements, and build a world-class architecture practice. This is a senior leadership role requiring deep technical expertise, commercial acumen, and consulting finesse. Applicants must be available for frequent London travel.Responsibilities

Enterprise Data Strategy and Oversight: Lead the creation, assurance, and governance of enterprise data models across analytical and real-time streaming domains. Define and enforce architecture standards, principles, and best practices aligned with business and regulatory needs. Manage and mentor a team of senior data architects, enhancing their consulting capabilities and technical depth. Drive strategic direction across the practice and foster a culture of excellence.Client Engagement and Advisory: Act as the senior data architecture authority in complex client engagements. Present confidently at executive level, influence strategic decisions, and serve as a trusted advisor. Own large-scale bids from solution design to financial modelling. Balance commercial competitiveness with delivery risk and build consensus across sales and delivery teams.Qualifications

Proven expertise in enterprise data architecture across analytical and streaming environments.Deep knowledge of cloud platforms, data warehousing (Snowflake), and real-time systems.Experience with data modelling standards (e.g., 3NF, Dimensional, Vault 2.0) and tools (e.g., Erwin, Lucidchart).Strong grasp of data governance, metadata management, and compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR).Hands-on understanding of Python, SQL, and modern data engineering tools (e.g., Airflow, DBT, Atlan).Exceptional consulting and stakeholder management skills.Career experience within leading consultancies or SIs (e.g., IBM, Thoughtworks, EY, Capgemini).What’s on Offer
