What we are looking for

We are looking for a Plumber

to join our Housing Repairs and Maintenance Team.

To be successful, you will share our values , commitment, and motivation to make a difference for our residents, clients, and communities.

About the role

This is an opportunity to join the councils new dynamic housing and maintenance team, working on internal and external plumbing repairs and maintenance to occupied properties.

You will be part of a dedicated team responsible for undertaking high quality reactive plumbing repairs and maintenance works, across our 7,000 occupied properties.

Work will include, but will not be limited to:

clear, repair or renew rainwater gutters and down pipes

repair or renew waste and soil pipes

repair / replace hot and cold-water services, valves and fittings etc.

renew / repair heating pipework, radiators/valves and fittings etc.

repair or renew bathroom and kitchen plumbing

clear blocked waste, sinks, toilets, baths, drains, gullies etc.

trace out water leaks and carry out rectification works

clean out / test gullies and report findings

assist in the delivery of planned and cyclical plumbing work

undertake trusted assessor surveys and report as requested.

You will be part of a dedicated team, providing outstanding customer service and excellent standards of performance to the public and tenants of Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils.

A van (for work use only) is provided, equipped with a range of tools, and in addition, a tool allowance is paid.

About you

In addition to having strong technical plumbing skills you will need to have a focused customer service approach and be adaptable and resourceful when working in the team or independently across the districts.

You will need:

NVQ Level 2 in Plumbing

awareness of related Health and Safety issues, practice and responsibilities

ability to use mobile tablet technology

good communication and customer service skills

to be a team player, who can also work independently

a “can do” attitude to solving plumbing issues for residents and tenants.

A full valid driving licence is essential for this role. A DBS check will also be required.
