Rate:-35.60/hr - LD, 48/hr- Sat/Nights and 60/hr- Sunday/BH (Umbrella)
Contract Type:-Temporary (6 weeks initially, with potential extension)

- Responsible to:-Consultant Nurse / Lead Nurse / Modern Matron
- Accountable to:-Lead Cardiac Consultant Surgeon
Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled-Cardiothoracic Surgical Care Practitioner (SCP)-to join a dynamic surgical team at a leading NHS Trust. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting cardiothoracic surgical procedures, delivering advanced clinical care, and contributing to improved patient outcomes across the perioperative pathway.
Clinical Duties:
- Assist in-cardiothoracic surgical procedures, including vein harvesting, sternotomy assistance, and closure techniques.
- Provide-advanced perioperative care-to patients undergoing cardiac and thoracic surgeries.
- Perform-pre-operative assessment-and post-operative reviews, ensuring continuity of care.
- Undertake-clinical decision-making-within scope of practice, including patient management plans.
- Support enhanced recovery pathways and ensure adherence to clinical protocols.
Surgical Support:
- Act as a-first or second assistant-in complex cardiothoracic surgeries.
- Maintain a sterile field and ensure compliance with theatre protocols.
- Handle surgical instruments and support consultants during procedures.
Patient Care & Safety
- Deliver-high standards of patient-centred care-in line with NHS guidelines.
- Monitor patient progress and escalate concerns appropriately.
- Ensure compliance with-infection prevention and control-measures.
Essential Requirements
- Registered healthcare professional (NMC or HCPC registered).
- Recognised qualification as a-Surgical Care Practitioner (SCP).
- Significant experience in-cardiothoracic surgery.
- Proven ability to assist in-major cardiac/thoracic procedures.
- Strong knowledge of-perioperative care and surgical techniques.
- Excellent clinical decision-making and communication skills.
Desirable Criteria
- Previous NHS experience in a-cardiothoracic surgical unit.
- Advanced clinical skills such as-vein harvesting.
- Experience in-teaching, mentoring, or leadership roles.
Working Hours
- Flexible shift patterns in line with service requirements (including long days and potential on-call commitments).

- This is a-temporary agency position-with an initial 6-week duration and potential extension based on service needs.
