  • Assessment & Progress Tracking:
Regularly assess students’ progress through formative and summative assessments, keeping detailed records of their development and adapting teaching methods accordingly.

  • Differentiation:
Use a variety of teaching strategies to ensure lessons are accessible and engaging for students with a range of SEN, including visual aids, interactive activities, and simplified language structures.

  • Individual Education Plans (IEPs):

  • Supportive Classroom Management:
Create a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages student participation and promotes confidence, self-esteem, and independence.

  • Collaboration with Parents and Caregivers:
Maintain strong communication with parents, caregivers, and other professionals involved in the child’s education to ensure a consistent approach and support for learning at home.

  • Inclusion and Safeguarding:
Ensure that all students feel included and safe in the learning environment, adhering to safeguarding policies and promoting an understanding of diversity and respect within the classroom.

Key Skills & Qualifications:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS):
You must have QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) and a teaching qualification recognized in the UK to work in a primary school setting.

  • Experience & Qualification in ESOL Teaching:

Experience in working with primary-aged children, especially those with Special Educational Needs, is highly desirable.

  • Experience with SEN:
A solid understanding of a range of SEN, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Speech and Language Difficulties, ADHD, and learning disabilities, and experience in adapting teaching methods to support these needs.

  • Patience, Empathy & Communication:
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues. Patience and empathy are essential traits for this role.

  • Ability to Differentiate Learning:
Skilled in differentiating lessons to meet the diverse learning needs of children, particularly those with language barriers or additional learning challenges.

  • Knowledge of Primary Education:
A strong understanding of primary education principles, child development, and learning strategies, as well as familiarity with the UK curriculum and national standards for primary schools.

  • DBS Check:
An up-to-date Enhanced DBS check is required (or willingness to undergo one if appointed).
