Locum Consultant in Cardiology - Electrophysiology and Devices

Applications are invited for a Consultant Cardiologist specialising in Electrophysiology (EP). This is a locum post that will be integral to maintain the service delivery of the EP/Devices Department. The post-holder will be a fully trained and independent consultant cardiologist and electrophysiologist. This individual will be able to perform outpatient clinics independently, run catheter lab electrophysiology intervention and device lists for investigation and treatment of patients with cardiac arrhythmias, as well as participate in the Consultant-of-the-week and arrhythmia on-call rota. The successful candidate will support the catheter labs and the wards by supervising the SpRs and clinical fellows in the day-to-day workflow. The post will involve close working with the Arrhythmia Clinical Nurse Specialists in order to decide which in-patients need to undergo invasive investigations and to coordinate inter-hospital transfers for treatment.Responsibilities
Deliver outpatient clinics independently and perform catheter laboratory electrophysiology interventions and device lists for investigation and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias.Participate in the Consultant-of-the-week and arrhythmia on-call rota; support catheter labs and wards; supervise SpRs and clinical fellows.Coordinate with Arrhythmia Clinical Nurse Specialists to determine which in-patients need invasive investigations and coordinate inter-hospital transfers.Work as part of the team with 7 existing Electrophysiology consultants, nurse case managers and allied health professionals to deliver clinical services.Full-time post (10 PAs).About the unit
The Cardiovascular Directorate at St Thomas'' Hospital is one of the largest in the UK, with facilities including a six-bedded Coronary Care Unit, over 60 cardiology inpatient beds across two wards, special expertise in adult congenital heart disease, a suite of six adult and two congenital Catheter laboratories, four Cardiac theatres, a state of the art hybrid theatre and two dedicated outpatient centres. There is excellent provision of the full range of non-invasive testing including cardiac MRI.Role and settings
