Band 4 - Therapy Assistant Practitioner, Medical team

Overview
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Therapy Assistant Practitioner to join our well-established Medical Team within the Inpatient Therapy Service. The role is full-time (37.5 hours per week), Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 16:00 pm. The successful candidate will participate in weekend and Bank Holiday seven-day working rotas (1:4–1:6 weekend frequency). The successful applicant must have significant experience as a therapy or nursing assistant in the NHS with a passion for rehabilitating patients on the medical wards.Responsibilities
Support qualified Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists in delivering patient care.Assess patients and deliver complex treatments to dependent patients under the guidance of qualified staff.Carry a mix of clinical and non-clinical duties, including assisting with department operations, data collection and equipment ordering.Work independently to make treatment and discharge decisions for a select group of patients, with appropriate supervision.Be line managed by a Physiotherapist and work with the Inpatient Therapy team on the medical wards at Watford General Hospital; regular supervision and a training programme are provided to support personal development.Contribute to service development and improvements, including the enhanced recovery programme, to shorten length of stay and improve patient outcomes.About Us

EssentialGood general education up to GCSE or equivalent.NVQ level III in a health-related subject or equivalent qualification.DesirableEvidence of recent study in health care and/or rehabilitation.Knowledge

EssentialSignificant experience as a therapy or nursing assistant in the NHS, particularly in an acute environment.Experience of managing and prioritising own caseload.Experience of working in a constantly changing environment.DesirableExperience of outcome measures and common rehab techniques.Experience of working with patients with a variety of physical/mental impairments.Experience of fitting a range of equipment.Experience working with older people.Other information
