Be the eyes behind the scenes!
At West Midlands Metro, safety and security aren’t just priorities they’re the foundation of everything we do.
As our Security and CCTV Administrator, you’ll play a critical role in keeping our network, customers and team members safe, by managing and reviewing security footage, liaising with local police, and helping to keep our records sharp, accurate and up-to-date.
This is a role for someone with a sharp eye, strong administrative skills, and a desire to make a real difference behind the scenes.
You won’t be on the front line, but you’ll be the one who helps uncover the full picture when things go wrong and helps prevent them happening again.
Security and CCTV Administrator – What You Will Be Doing:
This is not your average desk job. Every day brings something new, and your attention to detail will directly support investigations, safety audits and insurance processes.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Downloading and reviewing footage from trams, stations and body-worn cameras following incidents.
- Working with police and internal teams to share, analyse and discuss footage where required.
- Reviewing on-tram data (OTDR) and safety-critical communications to build a timeline of events.
- Keeping accurate, up-to-date records of incidents and investigations in our internal systems.
- Responding to requests for CCTV footage including sensitive law enforcement disclosures.
- Supporting audits and maintenance checks of CCTV and security systems.
- Logging, escalating and tracking faults with our systems.
- Assisting the Security and Insurance Officer with security admin tasks and reporting.
- Offering occasional support to the QHSE Team on projects and initiatives.
What You’ll Bring:
We’re looking for someone calm under pressure, methodical in their work and proactive about solving problems.
You don’t need to come from a security background but this is perfect for someone who’s worked in administration, data entry or customer services and wants to develop into a unique, highly trusted position.
In order to be successful in this role you must have:
- Experience working in an office-based environment, keeping clear and accurate records.
- Confidence using Microsoft Office (especially Excel, Outlook and Word).
- The ability to manage your time, stay organised and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal.
- Strong attention to detail – you notice what others might miss.
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English at grade C or above.
- Flexibility to start earlier or finish later on occasion if urgent footage needs reviewing.
Why Join Us
At West Midlands Metro, you’ll be part of something bigger: helping people move safely, reliably and sustainably across the region.
You’ll be working in a trusted and vital role where your eye for detail and commitment to accuracy will directly support our frontline teams, legal processes and public safety.
We offer a welcoming, inclusive working environment, a great benefits package and a role with real purpose.
