Cover Supervisor & Pastoral Support | Specialist SEMH & ASC Provision

More Than a Classroom - A Place for Growth. Make Your Mark in Blackpool.

Are you a resilient, proactive, and empathetic individual who can bridge the gap between academic support and pastoral care? We are seeking a versatile Cover Supervisor / Pastoral Support Lead to join our dedicated team in Blackpool.

This is a full-time (5 days a week) role within a specialist school catering to children and young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC).

The Role: Impact Beyond the Lesson Plan

This unique dual-role is perfect for someone who thrives on variety and is passionate about student wellbeing. You will be a consistent, calming presence across the school, responsible for:

  • Adaptive Cover: Delivering pre-planned lessons across various subjects, ensuring a stable and productive learning environment when teachers are absent.
  • Pastoral Mentoring: Acting as a key point of contact for students, providing emotional support, and helping them navigate social challenges or "big feelings."
  • De-escalation & Regulation: Using trauma-informed approaches to help students regulate their emotions and re-engage with their learning.
  • Classroom Support: When not covering lessons, you will work alongside class teams to support individual pupils with their EHCP targets.

What We''re Looking For

  • Experience: Previous experience working with SEMH, ASC, or "at-risk" youth (this could be in a school, youth work, or residential setting).
  • Confidence: The ability to manage a classroom and command respect through building genuine relationships rather than just "authority."
  • Resilience: A thick skin and a warm heart. You understand that "challenging behaviour" is often a form of communication.
  • Reliability: Our students thrive on consistency; we need someone committed to being there for them 5 days a week.

Why Join Our Blackpool School?

"We don''t just teach subjects here; we teach life skills and emotional intelligence. Our staff are a tight-knit family who support each other as much as we support the kids."

  • Professional Development: Access to specialist training including Team-Teach, Trauma-Informed Practice, and ASC Awareness.
  • Collaborative Culture: Work alongside a multidisciplinary team of therapists, SENCOs, and experienced support staff.
  • Career Progression: An excellent stepping stone for those considering a future career in teaching, social work, or educational psychology.
  • A Fresh Start: Help us change the narrative for students who have often felt let down by mainstream education.
