Job Title: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) SEN SchoolLocation: ChristchurchContract Type: Full-Time, PermanentThe role and school:We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our supportive SEN school.The school caters for students from Early Years to Post 16 education who have a range of Special Educational Needs, including learning difficulties, ASD, physical needs and SEMH. Key Responsibilities: Lead and support individual and group learning activities tailored to pupils needs.Cover lessons and manage whole class sessions following planned activities.Support pupils with a range of needs, including Autism, SEMH, physical disabilities, and learning difficulties.Assist in the development, implementation, and review of personalized learning plans.Promote positive behavior and a nurturing environment.Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to support pupil progress.Monitor and record pupil progress and wellbeing. The ideal candidate will have: Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar SEN role.A relevant qualification (e.g., HLTA status, Level 3 or above in Supporting Children with SEN, or equivalent).Knowledge of SEN legislation, safeguarding, and positive behavior management strategies.Strong communication skills and patience.A flexible, proactive, and caring approach.Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
