Are you passionate about supporting survivors of domestic abuse and helping them to rebuild their lives in safety and dignity? A leading Domestic Abuse charity in Wales are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Specialist Domestic Abuse Practitioner to join their team.
About the Role
As a Specialist Domestic Abuse Practitioner, you will provide tailored, trauma-informed support to survivors of domestic abuse, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs are met. You’ll work alongside individuals to create safety plans, navigate housing and legal systems, and access specialist services.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Offering one-to-one support to survivors of domestic abuse, empowering them to make informed choices.
- Carrying out risk assessments and safety planning in line with best practice.
- Advocating on behalf of survivors with statutory and voluntary agencies, including housing, health, legal, and social care.
- Providing practical and emotional support to help individuals recover from trauma and move towards independence.
- Building strong working relationships with multi-agency partners to ensure a coordinated and effective response.
- Keeping accurate case records and contributing to monitoring and reporting requirements.
- Experience working with survivors of domestic abuse, or in a related safeguarding or support role.
- A team player, acting as an ambassador of the service and charity.
- Fantastic case management experience.
- A strong understanding of the dynamics and impacts of domestic abuse, including coercive control and trauma.
- Ability to build trust, listen actively, and support individuals in a non-judgemental, empowering way.
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and multi-agency working.
- Resilience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Relevant qualifications in domestic abuse (IDVA or ISVA), safeguarding, or domestic abuse experience is essential.
