Overview

As the Senior Financial Accountant, you will play a key role in managing the company''s financial operations. You will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the financial records, preparing management accounts, overseeing financial reporting processes, and supporting decision-making with financial insights. With a Big 4 background, you will bring strong technical accounting knowledge and a high level of attention to detail, while helping to shape the company''s growth trajectory in a fully remote environment. We seek a fully remote candidate from the UK.Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly management accounts, financial statements, and supporting schedules. Ensure all financial records comply with UK accounting standards (UK GAAP) and tax lawsBudgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, financial forecasts, and cash flow management. Provide analysis and insights on variances and financial performanceFinancial Control: Maintain the integrity of the company''s financial systems, ensuring timely and accurate reconciliations of all balance sheet accountsMonth-End Close: Lead and manage the month-end close process, ensuring all transactions are properly recorded, accruals are made, and the financial position is accurately reflectedVAT and Tax Compliance: Prepare and submit VAT returns and other tax filings. Assist in the preparation of corporation tax returns, liaising with external auditors and tax advisors as necessaryCash Management: Monitor and manage company cash flow, ensuring there is sufficient liquidity for operations while optimizing cash balancesInternal Controls: Help develop and maintain robust internal control procedures to mitigate financial risks and safeguard assetsTeam Collaboration: Support the Group Financial Controller in the preparation of financial reports for stakeholders, investors, and external parties. Provide mentorship and support to junior finance staffAudit and External Relations: Assist with the preparation for annual audits and liaise with external auditors and advisers as neededSystem and Process Improvement: Identify and implement improvements in financial processes, tools, and systems to increase efficiency and scalability as the company growsRequirements

ACA or ACCA qualified with 2-3 years of post-qualification experience, ideally gained at a Big 4 accounting firmStrong technical expertise in financial accounting, audit, and UK GAAP, acquired through experience in a top-tier firmProven experience in a financial accounting role, with a deep understanding of financial reporting and internal controlsExperience managing month-end close, preparing management accounts, and working with complex financial dataAdvanced working knowledge of accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage) and Excel, with a keen eye for detailExperience with VAT returns, corporation tax filings, and compliance with UK tax lawsStrong communication skills, with the ability to present financial data to non-financial stakeholders and senior managementSelf-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environmentComfortable working remotely, with the ability to manage your time effectively and collaborate across different time zonesProven ability to build relationships and influence senior stakeholders in a small to medium-sized businessDesirable Skills
