This particular role is for an Associate Director with a sector focus on the Consumer, Retail and Leisure industry. However, experience outside of this sector, and in other forms of strategy consulting, may also be relevant.Our Deal Strategy proposition is delivered from within KPMG''s Strategy Group, an expanding and ambitious business unit which works across Growth, Transact and Transform situations. The Strategy Group consist of a diverse team of -500 UK practitioners working collaboratively with capabilities from across our wider Advisory business and our international partner firms.ResponsibilitiesTo be an effective Associate Director within our Strategy and Performance Transformation applicants will be expected to:Take a leadership role with the team and to hold a high quality, credible reputation with clients and in the broader market - experience of a range of MandA related projects will be critical, eg Commercial DD, MandA Strategy, Value creation etcDesign and run mid-sized to large projects and / or very large, complex workstreamsAct as primary client liaison on KPMG engagements and act as an ''ambassador'' for the firmProduce client-ready deliverables that exceed expectations and require minimal reviewDevelop solutions to complex problems and challenge the thinking of more senior colleagues and clientsHelp design - and guide junior staff to - execute detailed financial / business models performing complex scenario and sensitivity analysisIdentify go-to-market and marketing opportunities and assume day-to-day responsibility for taking these to clientsMaintain active contact with mid-level clients outside of engagement situationsShow initiative to identify and drive thought leadership and knowledge management activitiesTake day-to-day responsibility that the firm''s risk management frameworks are adhered toActively seek out leadership opportunities, take responsibility for a selection of internal processes and generally act as a leader in the SandPT and an inspiration to more junior team membersProvide timely feedback and coaching to other team membersLead on practice development activities to ensure successful delivery of initiativesKey CompetenciesAt KPMG, we seek candidates who can thrive in our high-performance culture and can demonstrate the following behaviours:Deliver Impact :Make sound decisions: Exercises sound business judgment when making decisionsFoster innovation: Embraces a culture of innovation and experimentation to create valueApply a strategic perspective: Uses diverse sets of inputs to develop a broad perspective on business and people issuesSeek Growth:Take opportunities to learn and adapt: Uses insights and self-reflection to build capability and embrace new challengesDevelop and motivate others: Engages teams, instils confidence, and coaches people to find meaning in their work and achieve exceptional resultsBuild collaborative relationships: Establishes strong relationships internally and externally and builds wide and productive networksInspire Trust:Drive quality: Delivers high-quality products and exceptional service that provide valueAct ethically and responsibly: Behaves ethically and encourages others to do the sameAdvocate for Equality: Creates opportunities to address inequity and enables all people to feel like they belongYour ExperienceSuccessful applicants will demonstrate the following:Work Experience:Extensive experience working in a leading strategy consulting business, Big 4 firm or strategy / Corporate Development team in industryStrong foundational understanding of the value drivers across the broadly defined Consumer sector: Consumer Goods, Retail and Travel and Leisure businesses - and views on the future outlook for this sectorExperience of leading mid-sized and large projects: designing work plans, team structures and then managing these to (i) excellent client output and (ii) strong project economics

This should include an extensive coverage of recent MandA transactions, eg CDD, VDD, MandA Strategy or Value Creation projects in the Consumer sector

Evidence of taking responsibility for designing proposals, scopes and pricing for mid-sized and large consulting assignmentsPro-active role in business development activity, designing client ready pitches, generating differentiated insights and holding personal client relationshipsAbility to work effectively and collaboratively with team members and broader (internal and external) stakeholdersStrong track record of building followership among more junior staff membersNon-client facing roles in driving practice forward in areas such as team management, training, technical tool development, liaison with service suppliers etcTechnical skills:Strong academic track recordEvidence of strong problem-solving and analytical capabilitiesStructured thinking skills combined with creativityAbility to evaluate complex challenges and deliver insightful recommendations that can be practically executedAbility review and assess large volumes of technical data and distil the key strategic insightsStrong numerical capabilities combined with sound commercial acumenAbility to build complex financial models that support our recommendations to clientsExcellent written and oral communication skillsOther language skills would be a strong bonusKPMG Overview:KPMG in the UK is part of a global network of firms that offers Audit, Legal, Tax and Advisory services.
