At EY, our Internal Audit and Controls team provides confidence to our clients and their stakeholders through the rigorous independent assessment of process and controls. This is done through the appropriate use of internal audit skills, building strong relationships, coupled with industry insight in the Financial Services market. EY has supported the development of the UK CIIA FS Code in 2013, and the 2017 and 2024 refresh.The opportunityWe are continuing to build our Financial Services Internal Audit and Controls practice and are looking for driven professionals with a strong background in Financial Services Internal Audit and Controls. This role offers opportunities for personal growth and advancement, broadening your wider business knowledge, and building internal and external relationships across disciplines and borders.Candidates must have experience of working in internal audit, risk and/or controls projects either as an internal auditor/advisor at a professional service firm and/or within an in-house Internal Audit function within industry. Financial Services experience is preferred and advantageous.Disruptive technology, including Artificial Intelligence, is driving a need to focus on how technology supports and disrupts the way an organization operates. EY’s Internal Audit and Controls team provides assurance that an organization’s business activities are operating effectively in addressing these challenges. In the Financial Services industry, this is done through the appropriate use of audit skills coupled with industry insight. As part of the FSO Consulting team you will manage and work on teams with responsibility for building client relationships and ensuring the overall execution of projects, under the guidance of Managers, Senior Managers and Directors. You will work on challenging projects and develop your career within a supportive team. You will be introduced to career challenges that will take you into exciting new professional territory. Planning and delivering internal audit and controls engagements that meet clients’ needs and expectationsUsing pre-existing methodologies to deliver engagementsPreparing deliverables for Manager and Partner review against quality expectationsMaintaining active communication with Managers/Senior Managers and clients to manage expectations and ensure client satisfactionUnderstanding service offerings and identifying opportunities to better serve clientsAssisting Managers with the development of client proposals and engagement contractsOverseeing and coaching graduate level colleaguesAbility to operate with stakeholders and manage projects spanning all functions within client organisationsHigh level of drive, commitment to delivering solutions and ability to work and lead under pressureQualifications
Strong academic record; a professional qualification would be advantageousIdeally 3–5 years track record of delivering controls, risk, regulatory or internal audit assessment reviews in Financial ServicesGood understanding of the Financial Services industry and its key functionsExperience of performing reviews against regulatory requirements and expectationsGood understanding and experience of using standard IT platforms and software packages (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, Outlook)Strong stakeholder management skillsCommercial awareness and ability to discuss future market trends with clientsProblem solver with the ability to tailor past experience to client problems to design and implement solutionsWhat we look for
