HGV Technician (Diagnostics & Repairs)

We are looking for a skilled and adaptable HGV Technician with strong diagnostic ability to join a busy commercial vehicle workshop in the Reading area.
This role focuses on carrying out advanced diagnostics using manufacturer-level equipment, identifying faults, and completing high-quality repairs. You will also support routine servicing, inspections, and general maintenance as required.
You''ll be working across a range of commercial vehicle brands, so a proactive, "can-do" attitude is essential. Ongoing training and development will be provided, including both in-house and manufacturer-led programmes, to ensure all work is completed to the highest standards.
Pay & Benefits
- Hourly Rate: up to -21.63 per hour (depending on experience)
- On Target Earnings (OTE): up to -64,000 per year
- Shift Allowance: -3,000 per year (late shift)
- Productivity Bonus: up to -6,000 annually (paid quarterly)
- Overtime readily available
- Weekend and overtime paid at enhanced rates (1.5x)
Hours:
- 40 hours per week
- Split shift rotation:
- Week 1: 6:00am - 3:00pm
- Week 2: 1:00pm - 10:00pm
- 1 in 3 Saturdays: 7:00am - 12:00pm

About the Role
You will be responsible for:
- Diagnosing faults using advanced diagnostic tools
- Carrying out repairs to manufacturer standards
- Completing routine maintenance and inspections
- Working collaboratively within a team environment
- Maintaining high standards of health and safety
Requirements
Essential:
- Experience as an HGV Technician with diagnostic capability
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Good communication and teamwork
- Organised and able to meet deadlines
- Flexible approach to workload
Desirable (not essential):
- Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance
- Manufacturer diagnostic accreditation
- LGV/HGV/PSV licence
- IRTEC accreditation
- Experience with buses or coaches
- Roadside assistance training
