Senior Stress EngineerLead structural and mechanical analysis across a range of complex, highly regulated projects.About the RoleYou will work closely with design engineers to ensure concepts and detailed designs are structurally sound, fit for purpose, and optimised for manufacture. The role involves producing and reviewing hand calculations, supporting FE analysis, influencing early-stage design decisions, and acting as the internal specialist for design substantiation.You will also help develop consistent analysis methods, mentor junior engineers, support project planning, and contribute to continuous improvement across the engineering function.Key ResponsibilitiesCarry out hand calculations and FEA to substantiate mechanical and structural designsReview and produce analysis documentationProvide technical input during conceptual and scheme design phasesAct as the internal expert for analysis activities and subcontracted workSupport design-for-manufacture and cost-reduction initiativesMentor engineers and support development of standard analysis proceduresEnsure compliance with safety, regulatory and data-protection requirementsOccasional UK and overseas travelSkills and ExperienceStrong background in stress analysis and hand calculations (e.g., Mathcad)Knowledge of BS EN 13001, BS 2573, Eurocode 3Experience within highly regulated environments (nuclear preferred)Ability to interrogate and interpret mechanical design inputsProficiency with CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks) and ..... full job details .....
