Temporary Works Civil Engineer – Leeds
Location: Leeds / East Leeds Area (Hybrid – 1 day per week WFH)
Salary: Up to £60,000 per annum (DOE)
Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Role Overview
On behalf of our client, we are seeking 1–2 Temporary Works Civil Engineers to support the delivery of temporary works design across a range of civil engineering and infrastructure projects across Yorkshire.
This is a hands-on, design-focused role suited to engineers with 2–6 years’ experience in civil engineering and/or temporary works design. The position is primarily office-based from the Leeds area, with occasional site visits to support design development and liaise with project teams.
Projects will mainly support long-term water infrastructure works, including storm overflow schemes, with additional involvement across other civil engineering projects in the region.
The client is looking to appoint on a permanent basis, with candidates able to start immediately or after an agreed notice period.
Key Responsibilities
Review incoming temporary works design requests and develop clear job scopes
Maintain and update temporary works registers for assigned projects
Produce temporary works designs and supporting calculations
Provide technical input and guidance to project teams
Attend site as required to discuss designs and resolve technical queries
Required Technical Experience
Candidates should have practical and design experience in some or all of the following:
Excavations, cofferdams, slope stability & trench support systems
Crane and piling working platforms
Concrete pours, formwork/shuttering & sequencing
Protection of buried services
Back-propping and temporary structural support
Lifting equipment and lifting design (anchors, lifting points, etc.)
Candidate Requirements
2–5+ years’ experience in civil engineering and/or temporary works design
Degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or related discipline
Strong understanding of temporary works processes and design standards
Able to work independently and as part of a design team
Must currently reside in the UK
Ideally does not require visa sponsorship
Working Pattern
Primarily office-based in Leeds / East Leeds area
Hybrid option: 1 day per week from home
Mon–Thu: 08:00–18:00
Fri: 08:00–16:00
Approx. 48 hours per week
