Catering and Events Operations Supervisor

Overview
A leading University in Edinburgh is seeking a Catering and Events Operations Supervisor to join the team. The role delivers across a broad portfolio of conferences, meetings and events, and supports delivered hospitality to university buildings and private and corporate locations.Responsibilities
Set up, deliver and clear down a range of catering, events and food and beverage services in line with departmental standard operating procedures to meet customer requirements.Lead and guide Catering and Events Assistants in service delivery; ensure customer needs are met and service quality aligns with SOPs.Manage a range of event types including conferences, meetings, bars, drinks receptions, lunches, dinners, weddings, outside catering, and delivered catering.Individually or as part of a team, prioritise and carry out routine tasks to ensure smooth service for allocated events: setting rooms/venues, serving beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), health and safety compliance, food service and delivery, closing procedures, stock security post-event, and driving University vehicles as required.Keep routine records (stock levels of items, soiled linen, and periodic counts of cutlery, crockery and glassware).Support pre-set induction programmes and development plans through on-the-job buddying and training to ensure consistency in service delivery per SOPs.Under formal in-house training: set up and basic operation of standard in-house AV equipment; ensure compliance with food hygiene and alcohol service legislation; conduct annual review meetings with staff and pass development needs to the line manager.Qualifications
Previous experience supervising people and teams to deliver successful events in hospitality, catering or events environments.A strong team player who can work closely with supervisors and teammates to exceed customer expectations.Outstanding organisational skills and the ability to prioritise work and keep others on track.Excellent attention to detail and ability to communicate with a wide range of customers.Ability to coach others to meet SOPs, operational health and safety requirements and core ACE values.Full driving license valid for driving on UK roads as this role requires the post holder to drive University vehicles.Salary and Benefits
Salary up to £26,926. Working 5 out of 7 days (primarily Monday to Friday). Full-time: 35 hours per week; overtime paid during busier periods.The role includes generous pension contributions and holiday entitlement (36 days plus 4 fixed days over Christmas) and excellent opportunities for career progression.
