To support Rugby Borough Council in delivering safe, compliant, and high quality waste and recycling services. The postholder will ensure that all operations meet statutory health and safety requirements and council policies, while actively promoting a positive safety culture across frontline services.The role combines compliance, investigation, and proactive operational monitoring, including the use of CCTV systems and on-site presence across the borough.Key Responsibilities: Develop, implement, and review risk assessments for all waste and recycling activitiesProduce and maintain Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) and method statements relevant to council operationsUndertake regular inspections and audits of depots, vehicles, and operational practicesReview depot and vehicle CCTV to monitor vehicle movements and pedestrian safetyInvestigate accidents, near misses, and dangerous occurrences across waste services Key Skills and Experience: Experience in a health and safety role within a high-risk operational environmentWorking knowledge of UK health and safety legislationExperience of undertaking risk assessments and incident investigationsExperience within waste services or local governmentNEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent qualification)Experience of using CCTV systems for monitoring and investigation This role requires office/site presence 5 days per week.
