SEN / Teaching Assistant
We are seeking a resilient and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs and associated behavioural challenges. This is a demanding but rewarding role within a specialist setting where consistency, patience and strong relationship-building are essential. The successful candidate will be confident working with pupils who may present with dysregulated behaviour, trauma-related responses, and barriers to mainstream education. Key Responsibilities Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs Support pupils to regulate emotions and re-engage with learning Implement behaviour support plans consistently and calmly Work closely with teachers and pastoral teams to maintain structure and routine De-escalate challenging situations using agreed strategies Support academic progress across core and vocational subjects Promote positive relationships and model appropriate behaviour The Ideal Candidate Will: Have experience supporting pupils with SEMH, behavioural needs or alternative provision Demonstrate strong behaviour management skills Be calm, resilient and emotionally intelligent under pressure Build authentic, respectful relationships with young people Maintain firm boundaries while remaining approachable Understand trauma-informed practice (desirable) Be a strong team player with good communication skills Essential Requirements Experience working with children or young ..... full job details .....
