Overview
Speciality Doctor - Sexual Health and HIV. Part-time (8 Programmed Activities per week - 32 hours) based at Beckenham Beacon Sexual Health Centre. The post is a permanent part-time appointment within an integrated Sexual Health and HIV service.Main duties and responsibilities
Provide a comprehensive sexual health and reproductive health service in collaboration with colleagues, including all aspects of treatment and management to support the Care Group.Deliver care to patients with contraceptive and sexual health needs; manage service delivery and administrative responsibilities to support the unit.Attend clinical supervision, maintain up-to-date knowledge of current research, developments, and treatments in contraception and sexual health.Provide medical support to the HIV Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) team and share responsibility for 24/7 unit cover on a rota basis.Provide clinical supervision to junior medical and/or dental practitioners, shared with consultant colleagues.Participate in teaching, examinations, CPD, and clinical governance activities; undertake outpatient clinic commitments at peripheral sites as agreed.Contribute to the Care Group’s research agenda, clinical audits, morbidity and mortality reviews, governance activities, and Learning from Deaths initiatives.Contribute to the development, implementation, and monitoring of the Care Groups Business Plan and service planning with internal and external stakeholders.Deliver activities within the contracted service level and operating plan; provide professional leadership for staff in the specialty; support staff productivity and job satisfaction; participate in appraisals as appropriate.Adhere to infection prevention and control policies; ensure patient safety in all interventions.About the role and team
The successful candidate will join a dynamic multidisciplinary team; the department has an active teaching and training programme, and the postholder is expected to contribute to and help develop these activities. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to patient-centred care and professional development within an integrated sexual and reproductive health and HIV service at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.Job requirements
Experience : At least four years of postgraduate experience, including experience within an integrated Sexual Health and HIV service; experience in providing a wide range of sexual health and contraceptive services.Registration : Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC).Skills : Ability to provide medical support to the HIV CNS team; strong commitment to clinical excellence and multidisciplinary teamwork; enthusiasm for teaching and mentoring junior medical and nursing staff; flexibility to engage in service development initiatives.Essential qualifications and training
MBBS/MB BCh/MB ChB (or equivalent medical degree).Registration: Full GMC registration and Licence to Practice.Desirable: Diploma of the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare (DFSRH); Letters of Competence in Intrauterine Techniques and Subdermal Implant insertion/removal.Experience and teaching
Essential: Relevant experience at SHO level or above; experience in GUM and HIV medicine.Desirable: Experience in providing all forms of contraception and managing side effects.Other requirements
Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check; UK registration; ability to obtain Skilled Worker sponsorship if required; adherence to NHS and Trust policies.Employer
