The Water Utilities Division is a centre of excellence for UK and Ireland water and wastewater challenges, delivering advisory services, feasibility studies, and detailed design across the project lifecycle.
Overview of the roleYou will work with and manage multidisciplinary technical specialists, delivering projects in partnership with clients and contractors. You will lead design efforts, coordinate project teams, manage business system compliance, technical quality assurance, programme and cost control, and client interfaces. You will supervise more junior staff and contribute to the commercial success through forecasting, risk management, and bids/proposals. The role supports AMP8 initiatives within the water sector and involves leading fast-paced design and change management where required.
Responsibilities
Coordinate project teams throughout the lifecycle from design Definition to implementation.
Ensure compliance with the business management system, quality assurance, programme and cost control, and client interface.
Provide technical and commercial guidance to junior staff and support their development.
Contribute to commercial success through forecasting, risk management, and bid/proposal creation.
Lead the design of innovative and sustainable solutions addressing leakage, clean water provision, and sewage disposal for water utility assets.
Manage fast-paced design work, emergencies, and reactive tasks while coordinating with broader programmes.
Candidate specificationsEssential
Degree in Engineering, Project Management, or related field.
Qualifications (e.g., PFQ or PMQ) with a recognized project management institution such as the Association of Project Management (APM).
Experience assisting project managers with: project commercials and cost management; budgets and resource profiling; drafting agreements and change control; invoicing; progress reports; internal BMS requirements.
Experience collaborating effectively with project teams and strong communication skills (oral and written).
Desirable
Ability to travel to other offices and sites as required.
Experience in effective client communications.
